BTT​ Flight School - Now Boarding

As part of our educational focus, we are excited to offer flight school once a month to help expand your craft beverage knowledge base. Each class will be​ curated and led by Christa Donofrio, Certified ​Cicerone® and owner of Beer Tooth Taproom. The hour long sessions will include a preset flight of four beer styles that will be discussed in relation to the topic.  

Flight School Classes

Go On, Taste It!

  • Discuss sense of smell, taste​ and how to really taste things. We will unpack our adjectives while learning which flavors come from the different raw components of the brewing process.

  • Beer styles that may be included: Lager, Sour, Stout, IPA

 

 

IBU? Not a Clue.

  • We will unravel the mystery of IBU, how they differ from perceived bitterness and why timing is everything with hops in the brewing process.

  • Beer styles that may be included: German Pilsner, IPA, Double IPA, Stout

 

Just Chill

  • Take a look at temperature and refrigeration and how they affect beer and your sense of taste

  • Beer styles that may be included: IPA, Stout, Sour, American Lager

 

Feeling Malty

  • Learn about the different grains and malting and what their role is in the brewing process

  • Beer styles that may be included: Amber or red IPA, Scottish, Lager, Stout

 

For the Love of Adjuncts

  • Explain adjuncts and what styles utilize them

  • Beer styles that may be included: Wheats, milk stouts, Scottish/Scotch

What's Up with September?

  • Why does the world celebrate Oktoberfest and drink March beers in September?  Take a closer look at German beer history and the Marzen beer style

Look to the Yeast

  • Discuss yeast, types and flavors imparted in the beer

  • Beer styles that may be included: Weissbier, Saison, Belgian, Wit

 

You Say Hybrid Like it's a Bad Thing

  • Clarify what styles are considered hybrids and why

  • Beer styles that may be included: Kolsch, Altbier, Cream Ale, Baltic Porter

 

Turn Up the Heat

  • Experience how the different beer styles affect the intensity of spicy in foods.

  • Dive into the what and why of black lagers and blonde stouts. Get to know the styles that challenge your preconceived taste expectations.
